My 2008 Iowa Caucus
We just returned from our (in)famous Iowa Caucus. For some inexplicable reason, our precinct caucus was combined with three other precincts, and held in the same high school as other caucuses, and held on the same night as scheduled basketball and swimming contests. Parking was insufficient and lines were long, but it’s a small price to pay for participation in our electoral process.
While combining the caucus with other precincts may have made the operation more efficient, it definitely deterred participation. I hope that our local party leaders choose not to combine the precincts again.
My candidate finished third in our precinct. It’s not yet been reported where he finished within the entire state. How did your candidate do?

According to WGN, my democratic candidate won!

My candidate didn’t do well. In fact, My candidate didn’t ‘do’ at all. My candidate is non-existent.

Hahaha… nice, Bethany.
Well Mr. Wheeler, sounds like your caucus was about like mine. North Liberty had about 4 times the expected Republican turnout at the caucus location, so things got sorta chaotic. My candidate (Ron Paul) came in fourth.
It felt good to at least do my part, though!
The complete results of my caucus are on my blog.

I don’t know why, but I had been under the impression that you were a Huckabee man, Jeff. Regardless of how I dislike the guy, it’s nice to be corrected.
In my precinct, my candidate (Ron Paul) tied Huckabee for 2nd place. If only he had been as close to Huckabee in the state results.

My candidate (Huckabee) won in our precinct 46 to 25. Thompson took 2nd, and Romney 3rd by one vote. Interestingly McCain, who is tied 3rd overall in the state, received only 3 out of 114 votes.

Jason: yes, I am a man of mystery, carefully disguising my candidate of choice until I made up my mind.
So far, Ron Paul is winning the accordingtojeff comment caucus with two votes.

My candidate Huckabee won our caucus. New Hampshire will be interesting to watch.

Looks like Huckabee has tied in the “According To Jeff” comments poll. And for the record, I don’t actually dislike the guy like I said above. He’s not my least favorite republican candidate even.

My guy, Huckabee won – even if I am late in telling you so.
